At Lucija Elementary School, under the guidance of coach Črt Butinar, we ran a sports workshop covering the basics of volleyball, intended for girls from 3rd to 6th grade. Around 30 girls took part, which shows great interest in sports participation and active use of free time.
Why movement matters
At the workshop, the participants first learned about the importance of sport and physical activity for physical development, well-being and building team spirit. Through discussion and practical examples they learned how regular physical activity affects health, self-confidence and mutual cooperation.
Volleyball basics
The girls then mastered the basic elements of volleyball – correct body posture, the forearm pass (the “dig”), the overhead pass, and initial hits over the net. Special emphasis was placed on teamwork, communication and mutual support. Training was carried out through varied games and adapted exercises that made it possible to learn in a fun and encouraging way.
Atmosphere
The workshop took place in a pleasant atmosphere. The girls showed a great deal of energy, curiosity and sporting spirit. The club will continue to promote a healthy lifestyle and interest in volleyball among young people.
